PleinAir Easton,MD
I just returned from an amazing PleinAir event in Easton, Maryland where I participated in a quickdraw event. And I actually finished a painting in the allotted time frame of 2 hours. I’ve done three timed events now and this was my first completed work. It also turned out to be my second artwork sale and first ever PleinAir sale. I couldn’t have been more excited when a couple from NJ told me that they would like to purchase the piece.
There were artist as far as the eye could see looking for their perfect spot to perch. I set up next to accomplished artist, Ronaldo Dorado on the corner of E Dover and S Harrison. A couple of large pink flowering trees with an overload of green foliage caught my eye. I was fully prepared to experiment with some muted green tones that I’ve been working on.
My direction changed when a severe downpour hit just as the event was about to kickoff. I decided to keep it simple and go to a monochrome using only black and white as finishing in the allotted timeframe was my only real goal.
I was ecstatic when I threw my signature on the piece with plenty of time to frame it and check it. With no expectations, I proudly set up my finished work for all to see. So many people stopped by while I was painting and when it was on display to comment and chat about the picture and the day. So much fun..
Imagine my surprise when the couple from New Jersey informed me that they were interested in buying the piece. I am so appreciative that they felt there was something special enough about the vision I had that rainy morning to want that hanging in their vaca home.
I did ask that they email me a pic of it hanging on their wall but unfortunately, my email here at the time wasn’t setup properly. I may have missed getting the email. (Neil, if you are reading this, please resend to info@richpicard.com and thank you once again)
I am looking forward to my next PleinAir event, Saturday August 23 in Dartmouth MA.
